Bowl Watch 11/23/08

At the end of every week of the rest of the college football season, I will post a list of the teams that have reached bowl eligibility.

Bowl Slots by Conference: ACC (9), SEC (9), Big 12 (8), Big 10 (7), Pac-10 (7), Big East (6), CUSA (6), Mtn West (4), MAC (3), WAC (3), Sun Belt (1).

That leaves 5 bowl slots after all the conference tie-ins have been accounted for for. 1 of the remaining bowl slots is allocated to Navy (if bowl-eligible) in the EagleBank Bowl in Washington, DC on December 20. The remaining 4 are BCS bowl slots. There are 6 conferences with automatic BCS bowl berths that go to the conference champion. Since there are 5 BCS bowls (including the national championship game), there are 4 remaining bowl slots.
